Job Description

Role + Responsibilities

  • Process owner for fabrication and welding production processes including both manual and semi-automatic welding.
  • Establishes and executes training and qualification procedures for welders.
  • Develop WPS/WPQR documentation according to ASME section IX in collaboration with industrial engineering and marketing.
  • Applies NDT and visual methods to ensure welding quality.
  • Develop and adapt welding programs/procedures in manual and semi-automatic welding processes.
  • Troubleshoots production welding defects/failures and identifies solutions.
  • Collaborate with global networks on product innovation and lifecycle.
  • Identify and support acquisition of appropriate welding consumables.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Industrial Engineering on special customer requirements.
  • Maintain engineering change databases for production changes.
  • Deliver continuous improvements via capital investments, efficiency gains and through reductions in waste

Qualification + Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, and combination of 5+ years Welding experience, or equivalent education, training or certification
  • Ability to multi-task and be self-motivated.
  • Required experience with manual and semi-automated TIG (GTAW)
  • Preferred knowledge with Plasma, Laser welding
  • Experience with welding testing such as Visual, Helium Leak testing, Dye Penetrant testing, and micro etching
  • Practical ability to train on welding processes.
  • Knowledge of basic metallurgy, GD&T, and measuring methods.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and operate machines
  • Certified to ASME Section IX, preferred
