JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for machining required parts/details to stated dimensions per drawings and/or verbal requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on manual machines such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill sharpener, tool post grinder and shapers
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine as required
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings
Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly - Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts
Operates metal cutting band saws and chop saws
Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be machined or fabricated
Confers with Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Leads, Maintenance Techs, Engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or related problems
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:
3-5 Years of Machining or a related field
High school or Trade school machine shop diploma or equivalent
Must work with moving mechanical parts
Able to work overtime and any schedule needed for production support
Strong organizational skills and ability to follow instructions
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., repeatedly if necessary
Able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time
Able to sit, kneel, squat or bend, for long lengths of times
Ability to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
