Job Description
The Modern Workplace IT Engineer enables our businesses to outperform by providing a well-tuned working environment to our team members. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and documentation of workplace services including desktop solutions, collaboration technologies, voice solutions and enablement of secure working environments. The background and ability to manage and govern our Modern Workplace suite of solutions including Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra, etc. is the key to success.

This role reports to the Network Operations Manager, and interacts with all levels of management, consultants, clients, and contractors during the normal performance of duties.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with IT and Business team members, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Design and deploy and maintain company Microsoft Workplace products.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
  • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
  • Offers escalated technical support to team members and other departments within IT to analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field is preferred or 7-10 years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in Microsoft, Citrix, and/or Hardware platforms a plus.
  • Working technical knowledge of current software protocols, and internet standards.
  • Extensive experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 services such as:
    • Identity and Access Management(IAM) services (MFA, MS Authenticator, Azure AD (Entra ID), on-prem AD, ADFS, Azure AD Connect, Conditional Access, Azure AD Proxy, SAML)
    • OS, OS management and services (Microsoft Windows, Intune, Autopilot, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Onedrive, SharePoint Files, Azure Storage)
    • Communications and collaboration services (Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online/on-prem, etc.)
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices.
  • Working knowledge of end-user operating systems and desktop delivery technologies, including Windows, Citrix, RDP, AVD, etc.
  • Working technical knowledge of scripting, automation techniques and database queries.
  • Competence with testing applications for performance and tuning.
  • Experience with telephony systems and VOIP technologies.
  • Excellent customer support skills, in person, over the phone, and in writing with the ability to multi-task and follow-up on requests.

  • Logical problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
