Overview

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer with 3 to 8 years of experience to be part of our Restoration Division in the Charlotte, NC office. This position is involved in the evaluation and restoration of various structures such as parking garages, plazas, and building facades.

The Project Engineer is responsible for applying intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas. You will also use advanced techniques, theory precepts, and practices in the structural engineering field, and related disciplines. While in this position, you will be a member of a design team working closely with project managers, other restoration engineers, and design technicians.

Responsibilities
    Assist in the field review of existing structures;
  • Meet with potential and current clients to communicate progress and solve issues;
  • Perform project design, production of reports, specifications, and drawings;
  • Perform project structural engineering analysis and design;
  • Assist team during the evaluation phase, including field review of existing structures, writing reports, developing repair options, construction cost estimates;
  • Assist team during the construction document phase, including review of repair options, developing drawings, developing specifications, construction cost estimates;
  • Assist team during the bidding phase, including pre-bid meetings, addenda, bid evaluations, review of alternates and substitutions;
  • Assist team during the construction administration phase, including pre-construction meetings, construction review, project meetings, test report overview, project close-out, etc.;
  • Achieve client satisfaction and loyalty.
Qualifications
  • BSCE or MSCE (preferred) from an ABET accredited engineering program with a focus on structural engineering;
  • Engineer in Training (EIT);
  • Active pursuit of Professional Licensure required, or Professional Engineer Licensure preferred;
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Mathcad are preferred;
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications;
  • Related work experience desired, but not required in post-tensioned structures, parking structure evaluation, and engineering condition assessment report preparation;
  • Team leadership skills/experience preferred;
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
