Job Summary
Fishbeck has an exciting opportunity for a creative and talented AutoCAD Technician for our Indianapolis office. The qualified applicant must be able to demonstrate career experience in a civil engineering consulting environment. This position requires self-motivation, commitment to high-quality work performance, excellent planning and communication skills, and the ability to work with other staff in a project team environment.
Primary Functions
  • Collaborate with technical staff from all Fishbeck offices to assist in providing consulting services for state departments of transportation and local municipalities.
  • Interact daily with multi-disciplinary and multi-office teams within Fishbeck and with other consultants to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Set up and layout projects, manage the graphics of a project, and manage the printing/plotting distribution process.
  • Participate and assist in the design process from the beginning of the project through the approvals, permitting, and final design.
  • Learn future software upgrades and continue to refine personal and professional skill sets.
Minimum Physical Requirements
Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. Will perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
Desired Education
Associate degree or equivalent experience
Desired Skills/Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in operating AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and Bentley software on civil engineering consulting projects.
  • Interest in transportation design and coordinating with engineers to complete transportation projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills are a must.
  • Ability to perform quantity take-offs.
