The Electrical/Controls Engineer role is to design, troubleshoot, install, and commission complex industrial finishing and dispensing systems. The Electrical / Controls Engineer will work amongst a team of highly technical electrical / controls experts in the finishing and dispensing industries. Responsible for the design of the electrical drawing package, software programming, component specification, and successful startup and commissioning of finishing and dispensing systems. Responsibilities:
  • Work within a team of electrical and controls engineers in the design and commissioning of multiple projects with strict and overlapping schedules.
  • Manage all electrical and control aspects of assigned engineering projects, and work closely with the other functions of the engineering group such as Operations, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, etc.
  • Interpret customer specifications and scopes of work and apply them to the electrical / controls design in accordance with governing industrial electrical codes.
  • Specify all electrical / control components required to meet the customers desired application.
  • Design, develop, and provide all electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Design and develop software programming, including PLC, HMI, Servo Control, etc.
  • Integrate Robotic Systems, with a focus on Finishing & Dispensing applications.
  • Conduct I/O check on systems at customer facilities, and subsequent startup, and commissioning of industrial finishing and dispensing systems.
  • Work closely with the engineering sales team to develop accurate project bids with a focus on the electrical and controls componentry.
  • Apply applicable codes to the design of industrial electrical circuits such as, but not limited to NEC, CSA, and NFPA.
Qualifications:
  • BSEE from a four-year accredited school. (Will consider two-year degree by candidate and experience of 5-7 years or more working in related field).
  • 3+ years' experience in electrical engineering/controls engineer position; specifically including manufacturing industry experience in the design of control panels, and electrical circuits; integration of highly automated machines and processes preferred, and experience in Finishing and/or Dispensing a plus, specifically (Liquid Painting, Powder Coating, and Dispensing Technology).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical and scientific product-related information.
  • Knowledge of drafting techniques / engineering terminology and ability to create detailed electrical schematics and broad knowledge of electrical and automation devices desired.
  • Experience with Industrial Safety Application Equipment and developing and integrating Robotic Systems a plus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of controls systems governed by platforms such as Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens, etc.; ability to develop and integrate Touch Screens (HMI's) into complex processes highly desired.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% with possible overnight stay.
