Position Responsibilities
Field Project Engineer (PE) manages the onsite project engineering, documentation management, accounts payable process, and material tracking.
Field PE is also responsible for managing Summer PE Interns and ensuring an atmosphere of learning and growth to develop these interns into future fulltime Field PEs.

The Field Project Engineer's (PE) responsibilities will vary slightly based on project schedule and scope, but will typically involve aiding the management of:
  • Onsite engineering
  • General documentation control
  • Accounts payable
  • Material tracking mechanisms and logs : namely concrete, aggregate, and longer lead items such as cable, rebar, piles, modules, trackers, etc.
  • Progress and quantity tracking mechanisms and logs
  • Attend Plan Of the Day (POD) meetings, maintaining meeting notes, and submitting the POD document to project personnel daily.
  • Update and issue weekly progress tracking maps.
  • Maintain Daily Status Tracker : a document recording dates of all quantities installed. The schedule will be updated and maintained using this and the POD documents.
  • Provide corporate Scheduler with quantity completion as required to support the development of 3 week lookahead, full, and summary schedule files.
  • Enter weekly quantities completed into the project management software, Viewpoint.
  • Maintain Viewpoint drawing log and provide applicable site staff with required issued for construction (IFC) drawings, ensuring all site staff has the most current drawing revision.
  • Review drawing submittal and transmittal requirements managing these processes, including acquiring process documentation, sending documentation to an engineering firm and client, tracking the response process, and updating the corresponding transmittal or submittal log.
  • Submit Requests for Information (RFI) to engineering firms and client as required, track the response process, and update the RFI log.
  • Complete Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) inspections, maintaining inspection logs, and notifying Superintendents of any nonconformance areas.
  • Submit requisitions to the corporate Procurement team to initiate vendor contracts or purchase orders. Field PE's are typically only responsible for low risk purchase orders.
  • Purchase miscellaneous consumable materials as required by Superintendents.
  • Manage the vendor payment process, including tracking the material received onsite, entering received material into accounting software, Viewpoint; monitor vendor compliance of prequalification, executed contract, and insurance; and review incoming (AKA: unapproved) invoices for accuracy, rejecting or approving as applicable.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and notes for all weekly and monthly client and engineering meetings.
  • Compile, submit, and save Wind and/or Weather Day notifications and maintain associated log.
  • Take progress pictures and post to document control platform.
  • Execute duties as required to support the successful execution of the project

    Skills
  • Field PE is expected to obtain the following skills upon being hired. However, it is preferred if applicant is already skilled in any of these areas.
  • Microsoft Office programs.
  • Viewpoint or other accounting program.
  • CPM scheduling.
  • Efficient written and verbal communication.
  • Technical writing proficiency.
  • Environmental inspecting and reporting.
