Job Description

Sr Software Engineer II (DSaT) for Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) to work at our Indianapolis, IN loc. May telecommute up to one day a week and more frequently as necessary.

Responsible for design & development of Big Data DSaT (Decision Sci & Transformation Div) projects. Design & develop ETL solutions on Enterprise Data Platform (incl code/build, data prep, deploy). Troubleshooting, testing, fixing, & performance improvements w/in applications. Create & adopt development frameworks to standardize cross team practices. Ensure code quality & automation tasks. Follow Agile devt methodologies, & update & report work items. Document solutions, architecture & mentor junior team members. Occasional weekend support. May undergo background checks incl. drug screen and credit check. Requires communication skills.

Must pass technical assessments. Must have Bach in Comp Sci, IT or rel field and 5 yrs relevant IT exp. Requires the following skills: (2 yrs exp) Java or Scala; (2 yrs exp) SQL, Hadoop, MapReduce, Oozie, Hive, and Pig; (1 yr exp) data wrangling/engineering across design, development, testing, and production implementation for a Big Data Project; and (1 yr exp) Spark, performance tuning of Hive and Hadoop, scripting language, NoSQL database, Big Data (Exploration, Profiling, Quality and Transformation), Open Source technologies, and designing ETL/ELT workflows, schedulers, and event-based triggers.
